Mike Allen has had a very successful career on the racetrack; in fact, he was born to be a professional rider.  His father is top trainer Ron Allen, Sr., and Mike Allen has proved his worth both on horses from his father’s stable and by riding entries from other conditioners at Tampa Bay Downs and Great Lakes Downs in Michigan.  Allen began race riding in 1988, and his favorite mount is Cherokee Prince, the horse he rode to victory in the 2006 Budweiser Challenger Stakes.  On February 25, 2007, Allen celebrated his 1,500th victory at Tampa Bay Downs with his friends and family in attendance.

Mike Allen’s interests extend beyond the dirt and turf to the surf: he is a keen water-skier and enjoys slaloming.  Mike Allen finished the 2007-2008 Tampa Bay Downs racing season in seventeenth place in the jockey standings.
