Mary (Mari) Antonia Hulman George, chairman of the board of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway , was born on Dec. 26, 1934 to Anton "Tony" Jr. and Mary Fendrich Hulman. Mari married Elmer George on April 29, 1957. George was a race-car driver who retired in 1963. They had four children: Nancy, Josie, Kathi and Tony.
 
The family split their time between Indiana and their dude ranch in Wyoming. Elmer George was the Speedway vice president and was in charge of its international radio network until he passed away on May 31, 1976.
 
Mary George continues her involvement with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as her Thoroughbred operation.
